Use a handheld scanner to verify you have packed the correct items for an order.
Improve packing accuracy by scanning each item for checking against the pick slip. This adds a simple quality assurance step directly into your packing workflow, giving you confidence that the correct items are in the box before it is sent to your customers. This can help reduce costly packing errors, lowering the risk of returns or re-shipping items. It is an effective way to improve order accuracy, increase customer satisfaction, and simplify the training process for new staff.
You can use scan to verify in conjunction with scan to print, so that as soon as an order is verified, the label is printed ready to apply to the package. For more information about scan to print, see the scan to print article.
Before you start, make sure you have purchased a handheld scanner, installed Instant Print, and set the scanner up.
For more information about setting up handheld scanners, see the Set up a handheld scanner article.
For more information about Instant Print, see the Instant Print for shipping labels article.
Connect your barcode scanner
Log in to your Shippit account, and navigate to the New Orders screen.
Scan a barcode associated with a Shippit order number.
If the scan is successful, the order is found and displayed.
Scan each item in the order.
When you have completed scanning items, if the scanned items match the pick list, the order is confirmed.
OPTIONAL: If you also have scan to print enabled, the shipping label is sent to your default label printer when the order is verified, and the order moves to the Ready to Ship screen.
This section contains information about some common issues you might encounter with scan to print. If you can't find an answer to your question here, contact Shippit support for assistance.
I scanned an item and got an error
This means the product barcode you scanned does not match any of the items listed on the pick slip. Check that you have picked the correct item and try again.
The verification window didn't appear when I scanned my order
This can happen if the settings are not enabled. Go to Settings → Label and scan and check that Enable Scan to Verify is toggled on. Click Save to save your changes.
My product's barcode won't scan
Ensure the barcode is not damaged or smudged. If it cannot be scanned, you must manually bypass the step by selecting Skip Verification or Print Label in the pop-up window.
I want to scan the GTIN number, or the location of the product, instead of the product SKU
If you use Shopify, you can scan the product GTIN instead of the SKU. Shippit matches this information to the Location field in your account to verify the product.
