Every package sent through Shippit's carrier partners (except Australia Post) requires a signature to ensure safe delivery. If a recipient or someone at the delivery location is unable to sign for the package it will either be re-delivered as arranged by the recipient or alternatively, dropped off to a nearby collection point.
What is a collection point
If sent via Australia Post, all failed deliveries will be dropped off to a Post Office.
If sent via Couriers Please or Fastway, collection points are typically a nearby Newsagent or Convenience Store. These are open longer hours as well as weekends for more convenient collection of parcels.
Avoiding Redelivery and Collection Points
Providing Authority to Leave at the time of booking your delivery is critical to ensuring your customers get their delivery on the first attempt. To do this, simply follow these instructions:
When using our Send a Package feature:
When booking via New Orders:
Step 1. Find the order and click on the options arrow
Step 2. Select "Modify"
Step 3. Select "Authority to Leave" and click "Save Changes"
Please note: When ATL is provided, our carriers will do their best to leave your parcel as intended, however if deemed unsafe to do so by the driver (eg. you live on a busy street, the delivery driver could not access your property or someone dodgy was hanging out the front of your delivery location), your parcel will not be left without a signature.
How do I arrange ATL I forgot to request it on Shippit?
Shippit send your customer a dispatch email with the option to select ATL, this automatically requests it with the courier.
