Yes, alcohol can be shipped in line with their guidelines.

 

Heavy or Bulky Freight

Does InXpress accept heavy or bulky freight?

  • No, InXpress has weight and size limits (see above).
  • Any underdeclared goods will be invoiced by Shippit accounts once InXpress has charged for the corrected weight.

 

Dangerous Goods

DHL is able to transport some types of dangerous goods, in limited quantities, for pre-approved customers only.

Please contact your Shippit Account Manager or Support Team if you plan to ship any of the below mentioned goods as you need approval before shipping on our account. 

NOTE: should our account be used to ship dangerous or prohibited goods without prior approval, we may need to suspend or cancel your account.

 

What are dangerous goods?

Dangerous goods are classified into nine hazard classes by the UN (United Nations) and reflected in the  IATA Dangerous Good Regulations.

Dangerous goods are substances or articles with hazardous properties which, if not handled correctly, may:

  • Explode
  • Asphyxiate
  • Burn
  • Poison
  • Corrode skin or metals
  • Pollute the environment
  • Become unstable with other products

When shipping DGs, you must have them:

  1. Have someone properly certified in DG signing off on the shipments
  2. Approved by Shippit/the carrier before shipping
  3. Packaged and labelled correctly
  4. Accompanied by a MSDS or SDS (Material Safety Data Sheet or Safety Data Sheet)

Activation

Currently, you will not be able to simply turn on InXpress/DHL within Shippit as approval is required from the carrier before shipping.

Please contact Shippit Support to get started.

 

What is required to ship with InXpress?

DHL has a strict shipping policy that must be adhered to at all times and you will need to ensure the commercial invoice is properly completed with a full description of goods and a declared value. Any insufficient documents will result in delivery delays and possible account suspension. 

If your orders sync via API automatically, Shippit will return an error message for those missing a product description. You'll need to update this manually before the order can be booked on Shippit.

Once the order is booked on Shippit, we'll automatically send the pickup data and all required info to DHL. If you have your own pickup arrangement already in place please let us know so we can switch the automated pickup requests off if need be.

Shippit will produce most of the required documents for the pickup however if you're shipping dangerous goods (DG), you will also need to ensure the correct DG labels are attached and documents signed by a certified DG staff member.

Can I bring my own carrier account (BYO)?

If you would prefer to use your own carrier account please email configuration@shippit.com and provide the following information.

Once received, please allow  3 to 4 days for the configuration to be completed. Your Shippit configuration specialist will confirm via email once it's ready to go!

  • Shippit Store Name - The name of your merchant account
  • Account Number - Unique account number provided by DHL
  • Product Codes/Service Codes (see below supported account types)
  • DHL Account Manager Details (if any) - Name, email and contact number

What account types are supported?

At the moment, Shippit can only support the below product codes:

  • PKD
  • PLD

Pickup & Collection

Cancelling and rebooking an Order

  • To cancel or rebook a pickup, please contact Shippit support who will reach out to the carrier for you.
  • You are not charged to rebook a failed pickup unless the order has been futiled by the carrier (the driver has tried to collect and unable to).

Collection Times

  • Please allow 1 business day for collection in metro areas and up to 2 business days for regional locations.
  • During peak times, adhoc pickups may take up to 2-3 business days in metro areas

InXpress does not currently offer direct phone numbers for their drivers. If you need to discuss your collection please contact Shippit support directly.

High-volume collections

Regular or daily pickups can be arranged for customers with high shipping volume. Speak with your Shippit Account Manager or Support team.

Delivery FAQs

Authority To Leave

  • For domestic shipments, ATL should be provided at the time of booking or otherwise requested when booking redelivery online.
  • For international shipments, authority to leave (ATL) can be provided to the end-mile carrier.

International Customs Charges

  • Who pays the duty and taxes depends on what is selected at the time of account setup. Please advise your configuration specialist of what you choose.
  • To check the customs charges for the destination countries you ship to, you'll need to check their local customs office website.
  • It's important to note that if the receiver refuses to pay the customs charges, the goods will be returned to the sender at their expense.

Redelivery and redirection

No, we're unable to change the address once an order is in flight. Goods can be returned to the sender at the sender's expense.

Return to Sender (RTS)

Yes, however, it's not possible once the package has already left the country of origin.

Insurance

There is no complimentary insurance when booking with InXpress through Shippit. This means you are not automatically covered in the event of damage or loss during transit.

To protect the full retail value of your deliveries during transit, you can enable Shippit Transit Protection.
