To help you quickly understand what is covered under Transit Protection we've provided the following information and questionnaire. Please note it is still important to read the Transit Protection terms and conditions in full. 

Ensuring you're eligible for cover

Before adding Transit Protection to your parcel, ask yourself the following questions to ensure your parcel is eligible. 

  • Am I shipping any of the following categories of goods: 
    • These goods may require specific packaging, as always please ensure they are packaged in accordance with our packaging guidelines to be eligible for cover.
Liquids
  • Any liquid such as: 
    • Paints 
    • Oils
    • Creams
    • Wine and Alcohol 
    • Beverages
Fragile goods
  • glass, mirrors
  • ceramics
  • glass homewares
  • wood homewares
  • ceramic homewares
  • wood furniture
  • delicate furniture
  • delicate goods
  • antiques
  • artwork, canvases
  • breakables
Heavy goods and homewares
  • marble
  • porcelain
  • ceramic tiles
  • heavy furniture 
  • heavy homewares
Pallets
  • goods over 30kg that require tail-lift
  • bulk palletised freight
  • any goods placed on skids or pallets

What's covered? 

  • Goods that comply with our Packaging Guidelines and are deemed lost or damaged during transit by the carrier.
  • Goods with order values declared at the time of booking on Shippit, excluding Excluded Goods in the terms and conditions.
  • A package's journey to your customer and its journey back to you in the case of a Shippit Return.

What's not covered?

Aerosol cans/sprays

Glass panels

Tobacco and tobacco products

 Animal skins / Furs on the city's list of endangered species. (certificate required; refer to www.cities.org)

Ivory and ivory products

Articles of exceptional value (e.g., works of art, antiques, precious stones, gold and silver)

Box with Hazardous label – Items sent with a Hazardous label attached will be classed as such. DO NOT REUSE OLD HAZARDOUS BOXES

Car Batteries

Airbag Modules 

Dangerous goods – e.g. Explosives / Fireworks / Christmas Crackers / Radioactive Materials / Deactivated

Engines / Generators / Gearboxes or any part containing or having contained oil/petrol unless flushed through

Fire Extinguishers

Life Jackets

Gold & Silver & precious metal Jewellery

Goods moving under ATA Carnet and all temporary exports and imports; goods moving under FCR, FCT and CAD (Cash Against Document)

Hazardous materials e.g. Paint / Adhesives / Chemicals / Flammable resins/ solvents/ liquids / Compressed Air & Empty cylinders / Items containing any gases 

Household goods containing flammable or corrosive liquids, such as oven or drain cleaners/perfume, aftershave/ hairspray/ nail varnish and remover/ antiseptic wipes

Human Remains, Body Parts or Body Fluids

Liquids / Adhesives / Paint / Oil / Creams / Gels

Living animals or plants

Dead animals 

Magnets or items containing ferro-magnetic material

Currency

Antiques, works of art or valuable documents 

Personal Effects

Pornographic materials

Wet or Lithium Batteries or any item containing them (Such as, but not limited to, an iPhone (Not including Dry Cell)

Prescribed Drugs / Medication / Any Controlled and Illegal substance including Khat to all countries
