Use smart shipping rules to automatically apply delivery features to your orders, such as Authority to Leave (ATL) or Signature on Delivery (SOA), based on conditions like SKU, order value, or destination.
Order modification rules allow you to automate how an order is handled without manual intervention. For example, you can ensure high-value items always require a signature to manage risk, or automatically apply ATL for specific items to reduce redelivery issues.
These rules are applied to orders before your carrier allocation settings, ensuring the right handling instructions are passed to the carrier immediately.
This article discusses how to create rules that modify order features based on certain conditions, such as total order weight or value, product SKUs, or parcel count.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Not all carriers support every value-added service. Check with your carrier to confirm which features are available for your chosen delivery services. If a service is selected but not supported by the carrier, you might get an error, or the service might be ignored by the carrier.
Log in to your Shippit account, and navigate to Settings → Company Rules → Order Modification. For store rules, navigate to Settings → Store Rules → Order Modification.
Click Create new rule.
For company rules, select which stores the rule applies to, or select all stores.

Create the conditions for your rule:
In the When this happens field, select a condition. For example, Total order value.
In the Is field, select an evaluator. For example, Greater than.
In the Enter value field, type a value. For example, 250 matches any order where the total value is 251 or higher, in your local currency.
Create the actions for your rule:
In the Action field, select an action. For example, Change authority to leave
In the Select value field, select which value to apply. For example, select No to change the ATL setting to off when the rule conditions are met.
Click Create to save your rule and return to the rules page.
Activate your rule by clicking the rule toggle to the on position.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: You can't use value-added services to declare dangerous goods. Always make sure you declare these items correctly. For more information, see the Dangerous goods freight type collection.
