## How scanning works
1. The camera overlay opens automatically at the scan step
2. Point your camera at the item's barcode — hold the device 10–30 cm away
3. The scanner reads the barcode automatically — no button press needed
4. A success sound plays and the item is confirmed
5. The overlay closes and the app advances to the next step
## Tips for reliable scanning
* Ensure the barcode is well-lit — tap the torch icon in the overlay for low-light environments
* Keep the device steady until the scan registers
* If barcodes are small or tightly printed, move the device closer
* Clean the camera lens if scanning is inconsistent
## Adjusting scan speed
Go to **Settings → Scanner** to set scan speed:
* **Slow** — reduces sensitivity; use if double-scans are occurring
* **Normal** — default setting for most environments
* **Fast** — higher sensitivity for fast-moving pick lines
