A state of emergency has been declared in Kaikōura following severe flooding, resulting in the closure of State Highway 1 and the cancellation of Cook Strait ferry sailings. These disruptions are impacting freight movements between the North and South Islands, and delays to pickup and delivery services are expected until transport routes resume normal operations.

Middle East situation

Network is closely monitoring the evolving situation across the Middle East, with particular attention to developments affecting the broader region. The safety and well-being of its employees, partners, and customers remain the company’s highest priority.

Proactive measures have been implemented to maintain operational continuity wherever it is safe to do so, with teams on the ground working carefully and cautiously.

At present, shipments to and from Australia and New Zealand are not affected, and all last-mile domestic deliveries are proceeding as scheduled.

Upcoming public holidays – delivery schedule

Matariki Holiday – Friday, 10 July

All depots across the Aramex network will be closed on Friday, 10 July. No parcel collections or deliveries will take place on this day.

Perishable Items: As delivery timeframes will be extended due to the holiday closure, customers are advised to avoid shipping perishable items during this period.

While every effort will be made to minimise service disruptions, customers are asked to allow an additional business day for deliveries impacted by the holiday closure.

Goods Management Levies for Shipments to New Zealand

Effective 1 April 2026, New Zealand Customs and the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) will restructure border processing fees by introducing Goods Management Levies. This restructuring includes increased charges for import entry processing and biosecurity clearance.

Key Updates:

• Low-value goods (under $1,000 NZD) – shipments arriving via air freight will incur a $2.21 levy per item.

• High-value goods (over $1,000 NZD) – shipments arriving via air freight will incur a $51.81 levy per item.

• Air vs. Sea Shipments – separate rates will apply depending on the mode of transport.

Reason for the Change
The government is removing historical subsidies to ensure a fair and consistent framework across all import channels. The revised fees aim to recover the rising costs associated with border security, compliance, and biosecurity services.

Starting 1 April 2026, the fees will be applied to all applicable inbound shipments, potentially increasing overall import costs. The impact will vary depending on shipment value, entry type, and biosecurity requirements. Importantly, Aramex freight pricing, service levels, and transit times will remain unchanged.
