Expected Service Delays due to Cyclone Kirrily - 30th January 2024
Updated over a week ago

Tropical Cyclone Kirrily made landfall on the coast of Queensland on Thursday night (local time). Kirrily originated as a tropical low over the Coral Sea, and gradually intensified over several days.

Due to the extreme weather conditions, there will be expected delays to collections and deliveries throughout the affected areas until further notice.

Couriers Please

QLD

Services have now resumed in Townsville, and the freight which was held in Brisbane has been forwarded for delivery. We expect that everything will be operating normally by Thursday of this week.

In the western region, floodwater has isolated the regional areas surrounding Mt Isa, and delivery services are limited. However, services in the central business area of Mt Isa are unaffected. The areas surrounding Barcaldine are also affected by localised flooding. Once again, our services in the central business area of Barcaldine are unaffected, but remote areas in all directions are impacted.

Furthermore, there is localised flooding around rural locations surrounding Gatton and Beaudesert, which is limiting delivery services.

NT

Freight services to Darwin, Katherine and Tennant Creek will start by the end of this week, but there will be delays.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your carrier or Shippit representative directly.

Team Shippit
