  • Medicinal and pharmaceuticals

    • Up to and including schedule 4 for pharmacy retailers (refer to Restricted Goods below)

  • Grocery

    • DoorDash meets cold chain compliance requirements for grocery and convenience retailers

  • Alcohol

    • DoorDash complies with legislation by enabling a specific delivery protocol for orders containing alcohol, requiring our drivers to verify a recipient’s age via an ID check upon delivery

DoorDash is not suitable for:

  • Bulky goods

  • Palletised freight

  • Dangerous goods


Prohibited, restricted, and dangerous goods

This section contains a a current list of goods accepted in the DoorDash network however this is subject to change. For the most up-to-date information please always refer to the DoorDash website.

Prohibited goods

  • Cannabis, CBD, and/or hemp derived products

  • Gift cards

  • Lottery tickets

  • Firearms and ammunition

  • Prescription medications

  • Fireworks

  • Any other age-restricted items

Restricted goods

All restricted goods must be pre-approved by the carrier prior to shipping.

  • Medicinal and pharmaceuticals

    • Up to and including schedule 4 medication for pharmacy retailers.

      • In-app driver acknowledgement of Privacy requirements and pharmacy delivery protocols

      • ID verification

      • Signature on delivery

      • Returns to store, when a recipient is unavailable

      • Chain of custody via barcode scanning

      • Proxy-recipient relationship capture

  • Alcohol

    • DoorDash complies with legislation by enabling a specific delivery protocol for orders containing alcohol, requiring our drivers to verify a recipient’s age via an ID check upon delivery.

      • A valid 18+ID must be provided by the receiver at the time of delivery. If the receiver does not have the relevant ID, the order will be returned to the sender

      • The driver undergoes specific training in order to deliver alcohol and reserves the right to refuse delivery due to insufficient ID

      • Authority to leave is not available with these types of deliveries

  • Tobacco products

  • Grocery products

    • DoorDash meets cold chain compliance requirements for grocery and convenience retailers by capping estimated time on the road before accepting an order.

Dangerous goods

DoorDash does not accept dangerous goods of any kind.


Packaging guidelines

Items should be wrapped in a way that will ensure safety for the delivery person and the customer. It is your responsibility to package items correctly. Packaging should comply with Australian consumer and transport laws.

Surcharges

Charges that can be identified at the time of booking are included in the API quote at the time of booking however additional surcharges may apply for undeclared goods or special goods. For more information, see the Carrier Surcharge Article.


Insurance

If you have insurance included in your own BYO account, this will carry over with your BYO integration.

Contact DoorDash directly for all BYO collection and delivery support.

For non-live order issues like refunds, email [email protected].

Activation

Shippit account

We currently do not offer a Shippit account integration.

Setting up a BYO account

To set up your BYO integration, contact the Shippit Configuration team with your account details. You will need to have all of your carrier account credentials ready.

Our team review your details and usually get back to you in 1-3 business days however BYO account activation can take 1-2 weeks to complete.
