Canada Post is the primary postal operator in Canada, functioning as a Crown corporation to provide mail and parcel delivery services to individuals and businesses across the country. It offers a range of services, including the transmission of letters, documents, and goods.

  • Canada Post Expedited Parcel = Shippit express service level

  • Canada Post Expedited Parcel Plus = Shippit express service level

πŸ’‘NOTE: Canada Post services are available for domestic shipments within Canada only. To be eligible to use a Canada Post service, you must have a registered Canadian entity address in your Shippit account.

Canada Post domestic services are suitable for:

  • Small consumer products

  • Food (non perishable)

  • Lightweight e-commerce products

Canada Post domestic services are not suitable for:

  • Bulky goods and palletised freight

  • Unapproved dangerous goods

  • Perishables


Surcharges

Charges that can be identified at the time of booking are included in the API quote at the time of booking however additional surcharges may apply for undeclared goods or special goods. For more information, see the Misdeclarations and surcharges article


Insurance

Complimentary loss or damage insurance is not included when booking with Canada Post through Shippit unless you have it included in your own BYO account. Alternatively, you can enable Shippit Transit Protection to cover your orders for loss and damage.


Prohibited, restricted, and dangerous goods

You can not ship dangerous goods with Canada Post.


Activation

We currently only offer a BYO account configuration with Canada Post through Shippit, using your own BYO carrier account. To set up your integration, email the Shippit configuration team with these details:

  • The name of your Shippit merchant account

  • Your Canada Post account number

  • Your Canada Post login credentials

  • Your Canada Post API key

Our team review your details and usually gets back to you in 1-3 business days. However, account activation for BYO can take 1-2 weeks to complete.
