Unmanifested freight charges

Find out what an unmanifested or late manifest charge is, and how you can avoid them

Updated over a week ago

You need to have order information ready for a carrier when they come to pick up. Usually, you would provide them with a manifest from your Shippit account. Some carriers charge a fee if this didn't happen, referred to as an unmanifested or late manifest fee.

⚠️ Important: Make sure you have a manifest ready at least thirty minutes before the carrier picks up your orders, to avoid additional charges

If you receive a misdeclaration charge for unmanifested freight, or a late manifest, it usually shows the time of first scan, and the actual manifest. Some carriers scan items for the first time at the depot, while other carriers scan items for the first time when they collect them. Make sure you mark your orders as Ready to ship in Shippit at least thirty minutes before the driver arrives to pick up your orders.

You might also be charged additional fees if the destination details are electronically unavailable, which includes unreadable or unscannable labels or QR codes, no manifest information at the point of delivery, or if delivery of the parcel is impeded in some way.

To help you try and avoid this problem, if you are shipping with Couriers Please, Shippit automatically manifests freight that has been labelled, but not yet manifested. This happens every day after 1pm in your local timezone. This does not apply if you are shipping with other carriers.

If you need to cancel an order that has been manifested, you can do this from your Shippit account. You can cancel an order up until the point that it is marked as In transit. If you have an order that hasn't been handed to a carrier, but is marked as In transit, contact Shippit support to cancel the order.

If you need help with additional charges, contact Shippit support through your account, or reach out to Shippit support.
