Delivery FAQs

Authority To Leave

  • Yes, authority to leave (ATL) can be provided at the time of booking or during transit unless the package is with the driver.
  • An authority to leave is a form which gives Aramex New Zealand (formerly Fastway Couriers) permission to leave your parcel without obtaining a signature. It's located on the reverse of your Calling Card.
  • ATL will only be completed when:

    • the receiver has requested it at the time of booking

    • when successfully applied during flight through Shippit
    • receiver completes an application form E-Authority
    • or after booking redelivery online and leaving the reverse of the calling card signed.
  • Ultimately it is up to the driver to deem it safe to leave. If there is nowhere safe to leave the package will be returned to the nearest Parcel Connect agent for collection by the receiver.
  • If it's possible for the driver to take a picture for proof of delivery they will do so, however, it is not always possible or guaranteed.
  • ATL policy here.

Collection Points

Yes. Parcel Connect Locations

Redelivery and redirection

  • Redelivery and redirection can only be booked online once a delivery attempt has been made and a card received.
  • Redelivery will be attempted once free of charge. Any further redelivery attempts will attract a small fee.
  • Redirection to a new address will attract a small fee. Cost varies and is only available within the local area.

Proof of delivery

POD should be on the Aramex NZ website once delivered and available in real time.

Return to Sender (RTS)

Yes, however, limitations apply:

  • we must be able to reach the driver before delivery
  • requires approval by the carrier
  • there is no cost to the customer, however, the original label fee is not refunded

You can contact Shippit support for all return to sender requests or alternatively, the receiver can simply reject the delivery (non-ATL only) and it will be automatically returned to the sender.

Packaging Guidelines

Weighing your parcel (consider the cubic weight)

How is freight accurately weighed?

Aramex has an accredited and calibrated Dimension, Weight & Scanning system that measures and weighs parcels that go through their network. When you send freight with Aramex, you will need to know your parcel’s actual weight and its cubic weight, as the delivery rate is calculated on whichever is greater. If you under-declare the weight and/or dimensions, the system will generate an invoice for the extra charges. To avoid any Under-ticketing invoices, please ensure you declare the correct weight and dimensions.

Weigh your parcel (consider the cubic weight)

The cubic weight is the parcel's volume in cubic meters, multiplied by 200.

How do I calculate cubic weight?
The formula for calculating cubic weight is:
     Cubic weight = Height x Width x Length x 200

The units should be meters.
For further information and an example, see cubing guide.

Please note: Maximum length of a parcel is 2m

Insurance

There is complimentary insurance when booking with Aramex NZ through Shippit, their policy details are:

  • customers are able to claim the net cost to purchase/ repair up to NZD $2,000 if the contents of a parcel have either been lost or damaged while in transit within the network
  • you won't have to pay any excess for insurance claims
  • full terms and conditions can be found here.

To protect the full retail value of your deliveries during transit, you can enable Shippit Transit Protection.
