Carrier surcharges

Information about the additional surcharges your carrier might include after an order is completed, for Australian and New Zealand carriers.

We do our best to include carrier surcharges in our quotes when you book your orders with us. However, some of the more extensive charges are not included in the quote, because the carriers can only calculate them after your order is completed.

Included costs

Rate cards and API quotes include known charges at the time of booking wherever possible. This includes fuel surcharges, residential, regional, on-forwarding, weight, and length surcharges.

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT: Carrier surcharges are subject to change. Shippit aims to update surcharges billed through the platform within two weeks of the carrier notifying us of the changes.

Costs that are not included

If we can't determine costs at the time of booking, or if you incur charges because you incorrectly declare an order, you receive an invoice after the order is placed.

Additional surcharges apply for deliveries requiring special assistance at the end delivery point. This can include things like a delivery that required two people to lift, locations with stairs, or a bulky delivery that requires a truck that has a tail-lift.

How surcharges are billed

When additional charges are received on your account, Shippit reconciles these to your account activity, and invoices you. The person responsible for the booking is liable for any carrier costs associated with completing a delivery or return. If you don't pay your outstanding invoices, we might suspend your account.

Carrier information

All carriers charge surcharges, but what they charge for, and how much the surcharges are vary from carrier to carrier. Always check with the carrier directly for the most up to date surcharge information.
