Enable Apple Wallet order tracking

You can use Apple Wallet to track your orders. Find out how to get started, and how it works.

Updated over 4 months ago

When your order has been picked up by a carrier, you can track the order on iPhone, iPad, or Mac using Apple Wallet, and stay updated on your order's progress without needing to stay across text messages.

Using Apple Wallet to track your order provides a secure alternative to SMS, including verified sender information, and avoiding the confusion and uncertainty of having to trust the information in SMS from an unknown number, meaning that when an order status changes in Apple Wallet, you can be certain it's genuine.

Apple wallet order tracking provides a single and secure place on your device to track all deliveries. You can view all your historical orders, see information about the order, and share order information with others. From Apple Wallet, you can also click through to Shippit’s tracking page for live updates.

Use Apple Wallet order tracking

If you want to offer Apple Wallet order tracking for your customers, get in touch with us using the chat in your Shippit account, or reach out to Shippit support. You'll need a few things for us to be able to enable this in your account:

  • A logo that you want displayed in the Apple Wallet order sheet. Your logo must be in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg format, and at least 300×75px.

  • A website URL to link to in the order sheet. This is the link you want customers to use to find out more about your products or business.

  • A login page URL. This can be the same as the website URL, it is offered to customers to let them manage their order.

  • Make sure that you have email notifications enabled in your Shippit account.

If you are booking orders directly through your Shippit account, or are using an integration such as Shopify, you don't need to provide any other information. If you are booking orders using the Shippit APIs, make sure that you are able to pass these details through, so that they can be displayed in Apple Wallet:

  • Product Details

  • Quantity

  • Product price

These details are shown in the Apple Wallet notification for your customers. If you don't provide them, the notifications work, but are not as useful or user friendly.

When you have Apple Wallet order tracking enabled, the tracking emails sent to your customers include an option to enable Apple Wallet order tracking. Click Track with Apple Wallet to enable Apple Wallet tracking for the order. As the order moves through the carrier network, Apple Wallet updates the order status, and sends notifications for status changes.

Troubleshooting

This section contains information about some common issues you might encounter with Apple Wallet order tracking. If you can't find an answer to your question here, get in touch with us using the chat in your Shippit account, or reach out to Shippit support.

The link to add to Apple Wallet from the Shippit tracking email isn't working.

If the link isn't adding the order to your Apple Wallet, check that you're using an Apple device running iOS 17, iPadOS 17, MacOS Sonoma, or later.

To add the order to your Apple Wallet automatically, you must have Safari set as your default browser. If you don't want to change your default browser, you can add the order manually instead:

  1. In your tracking email, touch and hold Track with Apple Wallet, and select copy link.

  2. Open Safari and paste the link in the address bar to add the order to your Apple Wallet.

Order details are not being shown in Apple Wallet

If you are booking orders using the Shippit API, make sure you are passing product details through when you book. If you do not pass these details through, only the Order ID is shown in Apple Wallet notifications.
