Direct Freight Express provides reliable national parcel and bulk pallet express road transport services.   • Medicinal and pharmaceuticals including scheduled medications

  • Tobacco products


Prohibited, restricted, and dangerous goods

Below is a current list of goods restricted in the Direct Freight Express network however this is subject to change.

Prohibited goods

  • Dangerous and hazardous goods

    • Explosives and flammable items such as fireworks, ammunition, petrol, oily rags, matches, and flares

    • Gases such as aerosol cans and gas cylinders

    • Corrosives and poisons such as acids, caustic soda, pesticides, and poisons

    • Batteries such as lithium batteries and wet-cell car batteries.

  • High value goods

    • Money and valuables such as cash, bullion, precious metals, and stones

    • Legal documents such as passports, birth certificates, and negotiable items

    • Works of art such as antiques and other irreplaceable items

  • Perishable goods

    • Perishable food items, frozen foods, meat, and seafood

    • Plants and animals such as live or dead animals, plants, seeds, and flowers

    • Medical samples

  • Automotive and electronic items

    • Engines and parts, generators, and gearboxes that have been used with oil or petrol

    • Electronics such as speakers, and amplifiers

  • Glass and ceramics, mirrors, crystal, porcelain, and other breakable materials

  • Furniture items that are not flat-packed

  • Illegal substances such as narcotics and other illegal materials

  • Pornographic materials

  • Weapons, firearms, replica weapons, and ammunition

  • Other fragile materials made of marble, slate, or plaster

Dangerous goods

Direct Freight Express does not allow dangerous goods to be shipped in their network.


Packaging guidelines

Items should be wrapped in a way that will ensure safety for the delivery person and the customer. It is your responsibility to package items correctly. Packaging should comply with Australian consumer and transport laws.

Surcharges

Charges that can be identified at the time of booking are included in the API quote at the time of booking however additional surcharges may apply for undeclared goods or special goods. For more information, see the Carrier Surcharge Article.


Insurance

If you have insurance included in your own BYO account, this carries over with your BYO integration.

Alternatively, you can enable Shippit Transit Protection to cover your orders for loss and damage.

You need to contact Direct Freight Express directly for all BYO collection and delivery support.

Activation

Setting up a BYO account

To set up your BYO integration, contact the Shippit Configuration team with your account details. You will need to have all of your carrier account credentials ready.

Our team review your details and usually get back to you in 1-3 business days however BYO account activation can take 1-2 weeks to complete.
