  • White goods and appliances

  • Small freight, such as satchels

  • Dangerous goods

  • Alcohol

  • Medicinal or pharmaceuticals including scheduled medication

  • Perishables

  • Cold chain

  • High value goods

  • Live plants and animals


Prohibited, restricted, and dangerous goods

Below is a current list of goods accepted in the Hunter Express network however this is subject to change. For the most up-to-date information please always refer to the Hunter Express website.

Prohibited goods

  • Loose goods, such as loose furniture

  • White goods, such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators

  • Very small freight, such as satchels

  • Dangerous goods

    • Any hazardous or dangerous goods above the recommended allowed limit within the Australia Dangerous Goods Code

    • Chemicals and cement

  • Alcohol

  • Medicinal or pharmaceuticals including scheduled medication

  • Perishables

    • Perishable goods that may deteriorate if not temperature controlled

    • Live plants

  • Cold-chain

    • Products and foodstuffs requiring refrigeration

  • High value goods

    • Legal tender including cash, gold and precious gems

  • Animals, pets, or livestock

  • Anything without adequate packaging

  • Any single item without a registered consignment note, barcode, or address label attached

  • Pipes or lengths over 4 meters

Restricted goods

All goods weighing over 30kg must be placed on a pallet or skid for transport.


Packaging guidelines

Items should be wrapped in a way that will ensure safety for the delivery person and the customer. It is your responsibility to package items correctly. Packaging should comply with Australian consumer and transport laws.

Surcharges

Charges that can be identified at the time of booking are included in the API quote at the time of booking however additional surcharges may apply for undeclared goods or special goods.

Insurance

If you have insurance included in your own BYO account, this carries over with your BYO integration.

Alternatively, you can enable Shippit Transit Protection to cover the retail value of your goods if lost or damaged during transit.

Activation

Setting up a BYO account

To set up your BYO integration, contact the Shippit Configuration team with your account details. You need to have all of your carrier account credentials ready.

Our team review your details and usually get back to you in 1-3 business days however BYO account activation can take 1-2 weeks to complete.
