Delivery

This section contains general information about delivery with Fedex International.

Authority to leave

FedEx requires a signature on all deliveries by default. The customer can opt in for an ATL delivery however a signed confirmation that authorises FedEx to leave your package is required.

When a delivery fails, the receiver should receive a card with instructions to rebook delivery which can then include ATL. If not, please contact Shippit Support for assistance.

Note: A shipment is only left without a signature in FedEx' sole discretion and if there is a safe place to do so. This may exclude certain delivery locations such as apartments and office buildings.

Customs clearance

Fedex will send customs clearance notifications directly to the receiver for processing and payment.

Should the receiver fail to agree and/or pay within the specified time, Fedex will contact Shippit directly to advise.

The sender will then have the following options:

  • To have goods delivered - the sender (merchant) is liable for any clearance fees

  • Disposal of goods

  • Have the goods returned to sender - the sender (merchant) is liable for the cost

Note: goods will only be held in customs for 7 days.

You can refer to more information here.

Proof of delivery

Fedex provides Proof of Delivery (POD) for international shipments, including a Picture Proof of Delivery (PPOD) for residential deliveries in Australia. This allows senders and recipients to track the delivery status and confirm when and where a package was delivered

Shippit will record a completed delivery once we receive a โ€˜completedโ€™ scan from the carrier which is visible in our Shippit tracking

If your POD is not available please contact Shippit Support for assistance.

Redelivery & redirection

If delivery cannot be completed on the initial delivery attempt Fedex will hold for further instructions from the receiver,

The receiver should receive a card with instructions to rebook delivery which can then include ATL.

After three attempts to deliver or notify the recipient, or five (business days from the date of shipment (whichever occurs first), the shipment will be considered undeliverable. The shipment will then be returned to sender at the sender's expense.

A reroute (redirection) is required:

  • When the order is already in transit (note a redirection/reroute is never guaranteed)

  • A return to sender is requested

  • From one street address to another in the same city

  • From Hold at FedEx Location instructions to a request for a delivery

  • From delivery instructions to a request for Hold at FedEx Location

  • From one Hold at FedEx Location to another in the same city

Return to sender

Return to sender (RTS) can be requested from the carrier however we must be able to reach the driver before delivery. Once goods are delivered weโ€™re unable to request return to sender.

RTS will take approximately one week to be completed. Please contact Shippit Support for assistance with RTS.
